Gerard “Hawkeye” LaCour

Gerard “Hawkeye” LaCour  is one of seven children. His parents are Mrs. Dot LaCour and the late Floyd LaCour of Simmesport, La. He has been married to Kelli Olinde LaCour for the past 22 years. Kelli is the daughter of Mrs. Adele Olinde and the late John Olinde, of Ventress. They are the proud parents of four children, John, Katie, Andrew and Jena.

Gerard was raised in the long term care industry. His parents built Bayou Chateau Nursing Home when he was 10 years old and it opened two days before his 11th birthday. He worked at the nursing home from the summer of 1974 thru 1982. He worked before and after school, during the summer and on holiday breaks. He always loved caring and helping people and his passion is to help the elderly. His parents realized his love for caring for the elderly and working in long term care. They encouraged him to attend LSU to pursue his dream. He attended LSU Majoring in Business Administration in the Fall of 1982 and attended for 2 semesters. He then returned home to assist his parents with the start up of another nursing home, Tri Community, in Palmetto, La. In 1987 Gerard returned to LSU and began working with UPS as a part time driver, and moved forward to a full time position. During the Summer of 1998 he resigned from UPS and moved to Ventress close to his wife’s family, so he could  assist his mother in managing Bayou Chateau Nursing Home. Shortly after, he began managing other businesses for his mother like, LaCour’s  Pharmacy, and moved on with managing Tri Community Nursing Home, also.

After 17 years in the long term care industry, Gerard along with his mother, Mrs. Dot, continue to manage and/or own seven businesses. These businesses include Bayou Chateau Nursing Center, Tri Community Nursing Home, LaCour Healthcare, Hawkeye’s Hideaways, Early Childhood Development Center with two locations, in Simmesport and Baton Rouge. Along with his newest facility, LaCour House.

Throughout his career, Gerard has had a vision to build a facility that would provide care in a home-like environment with private apartments and full bathrooms. He envisioned a facility in which a resident would be able to maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of a home. Along with his wife, Gerard has worked on this plan and designed the facility he envisioned. His vision will soon be completed, it is LaCour House Assisted Living Community. This new facility is located at 345 Major Parkway in New Roads, La.
